Η κλήρωση του UTMB έγινε χτες 18/1/10 και για τους χαμένους, ο "καφές της παρηγοριάς" ακούει στο όνομα TDS, την κομψή σύμπτυξη του άκομψου και αντιαγωνιστικού "Sur les Traces de Ducs de Savoie". Οι περισσότεροι ίσως το ξεπεράσουν αδιάφορα, όμως η εξέλιξη της τελευταίας στιγμής* όχι μόνο σώζει τον ίδιο τον αγώνα από την περιφρόνηση αλλά μελλοντικά θα του δώσει την θέση που του αξίζει. Ας ρίξουμε όμως μια ματιά στο μήνυμα που στέλνουν οι διοργανωτές του UTMB στους άτυχους των χθεσινών κληρώσεων, το οποίο βγάζει την είδηση! Τους υπόσχονται προτεραιότητα για το 2011 και τους προτρέπουν να συμμετάσχουν στο TDS (106K), αγώνα που δεν "τράβηξε" φέτος -όπως και πέρυσι δυστυχώς. Την περίπτωση αυτού του αγώνα, πρέπει αφού την μελετήσουν ειδικοί σε θέματα επικοινωνίας, να δημοσιεύσουν τα συμπεράσματά τους. Είναι ένα ακραίο παράδειγμα του πώς η μαζική ψυχολογία απέρριψε συλλήβδην ένα αθλητικό γεγονός!
Και εδώ έχουμε μια είδηση πρώτου μεγέθους, όσο κι αν οι περισσότεροι θα την ξεπεράσουν αδιάφορα φέτος!!!
Στην απεγνωσμένη προσπάθειά τους να σώσουν το TDS από τον διασυρμό, οι Trailers του Mont-Blanc έκαναν το αυτονόητο: έκαναν την εκκίνηση (Chamonix) τερματισμό, ανεβάζοντας ξαφνικά το ενδιαφέρον του αγώνα και μετατρέποντας (σταδιακά τα επόμενα χρόνια) ένα περιθωριακό γεγονός της διοργάνωσής τους, σε κύριο. Τώρα, το TDS θα μπορεί να συναγωνιστεί με ίσους όρους το CCC, προσφέροντας σε απόλυτους αριθμούς περισσότερα από τον ανταγωνιστή του (171 βαθμούς το TDS, έναντι 154 του CCC!) Ακόμα κι αν κοιτάξουμε τη σκοπιμότητα των δύο αγώνων, λίγο-πολύ ίδιοι λόγοι τους δημιούργησαν: η ανάγκη για διοχέτευση του πλεονάζοντος κοινού σε έναν αγώνα που δεν είναι τόσο δύσκολος όσο το κύριο γεγονός (UTMB) και η προσπάθεια τόνωσης των τοπικών κοινωνιών του ΜΒ.

Following our news of January 14th, here is the latest information on the TDS.
This race, in its 2009 format, did not fulfill one of the objectives envisaged at its creation, notably helping to satisfy the greatest number of competitors possible and balance the registrations between the different events.
This message from the competitors can not be ignored.After numerous consultations with the communities concerned, notably Courmayeur and Chamonix, the decision was taken to reverse the direction of the TDS. The competitors will therefore be able to benefit from the superb start line in Courmayeur and finish as all the other events by crossing the line in Chamonix.
The start of the TDS will, therefore, be on Saturday August 28th in Courmayeur. Details of timings and the route will be decided during the next few weeks in consultation with the relevant communities.
We are also able to offer those who were unlucky in the draw, for a place in the UTMB® or the CCC®, the opportunity of transferring their registration to the TDS, if they so wish.

Οι διοργανωτές δεν μασούν τα λόγια τους: "...αυτό το μήνυμα των αγωνιζόμενων δεν μπορεί να αγνοηθεί..." λένε στο δελτίο τύπου τους! Και πολύ σωστά αφουγκράστηκαν την άποψη των αθλητών, αφού χάρη σ αυτούς -και γι αυτούς- πραγματοποιείται ο αγώνας.
Τη διαφορά θα τη δούμε από το 2011, όταν θα παγιωθεί το TDS στη συνείδηση των αθλητών. Εξάλλου να μην ξεχνάμε ότι το 2006, όταν δημιουργήθηκε το CCC, μια γυναίκα (η εξαίρετη και αγαπητή μας Corinne Favre) ήταν η νικήτρια του αγώνα. Σταδιακά, το CCC μάζεψε –αν και θα βρίσκεται πάντα στη σκιά του «πατέρα» UTMB- πολύ περισσότερους αθλητές. Πάντως για αρχή, το TDS δεν τα πήγε και τόσο άσχημα το 2009, με 480 αθλητές να το έχουν τερματίσει!

Παρότρυνσή μου: Αποτυχόντες του CCC αλλά και του UTMB (αν δεν το έχετε τρέξει στο παρελθόν και σκοπεύατε να μπείτε στο UTMB έτσι, για να το παλέψετε): Πάρτε μέρος στο TDS. Ίσως είναι και μεγαλύτερη πρόκληση από το CCC!
